Salaries are so low that job creep is increasing to better-paying positions and for other counties. The Office of the Sheriff must be able to compete for top quality hires with solid experience, but who cannot afford to downgrade their salaries to live here.

Improving Prosecuting Attorney Pay & Pre-Trial Services

PROSECUTING FELONS

The Cascade County Attorney's Office has maintained the same pay levels while work loads increase. Cascade County leads the state in felony prosecutions per capita. Yet without adequate resources, our attorneys cannot keep up with the rising amount of prosecutions. A new prosecutor in our county makes 20% less than the public defender.

     Pre-trial services ensure our jail always has room to house criminal offenders. This matters because it guarantees Cascade County does not become a catch-and-release community.
